HGC Construction recently completed work on the restoration of the Zorn Pump Station No. 1 in Louisville, Kentucky. Rising above the Ohio River on a hilltop at Zorn Avenue and River Road, just of Interstate 71, the water station began pumping water in 1860. No longer a function pump station, it is home to the Louisville Visual Arts Association.
The project involved removing multiple layers of exterior paint and restoring and cleaning the buildings original elements - including masonry facade, wood soffits constructed of old-growth hardwood, locally quarried stone and original terra cotta decorations.
