Zoo Project “Excellence” with Sustainability

 

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Historic Vine Street Village
 
Associated Builders and Contractors awarded the National Pyramid Award for Construction Excellence to HGC for construction of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s Historic Vine Street Village. The project also earned the highest possible, LEED-Platinum certification. Green features include 10 kW of solar panels, geothermal heat pumps, spray foam insulation, solar water-heating system, and renewable energy credits making the Membership and Ticketing building a net-zero carbon use facility.

HGC Construction won the historic preservation award for projects between $2-5 Million at the Build Kentucky Awards, recognizing the best in construction, by the Associated General Contractors of Kentucky, Inc. (AGC).

HGC Construction, a leading builder in the urban renaissance taking place in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine, has won Cincinnati Preservation Association Awards for three historic renovation projects in the Queen City:  Parvis Lofts on Vine, Saengerhalle on Race Street and Hughes Center. The awards were presented to the project teams at the Preservation Association meeting in November.

On November 2nd, HGC Construction assembled the 30-foot-tall animal nutcracker at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden for the 29th annual PNC Festival of Lights. The rhino, which consists of five parts, was assembled using a crane and lift bucket.

The company has hired four new employees at its headquarters in Walnut Hills: Pamela Roebel, Director of Marketing; Paul Sheckels, Senior Project Manager, Jacob Schneider, Project Engineer; Ryan Burt, Project Engineer . Pamela Roebel joins HGC Construction with seven years of marketing and development experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry.  In her position as Marketing Director, Ms. Roebel is responsible for media and public relations, branding and positioning for the company. Pamela holds a Bachelor of Administration in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati.  Paul Sheckels joins the HGC Construction team as a Senior Project Manager.  Mr. Sheckels brings with him 36 years of project management experience in the industrial, education, government and health care industries.  He provides full project management from conception through completion...
