Diversity & Inclusion

Josie Gonzalez is a project engineer at HGC and our diversity director. She has a BS in civil engineering and is a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Cincinnati Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Please contact her (513-861-8866) with your questions about our Economic Inclusion Program and how to work with our company as a subcontractor or supplier.

Diversity helps us succeed
Growing from a small company ourselves, HGC knows what a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), Disadvantaged Business or Small Business Enterprise (DBE/SBE) can bring to the table. We strive to include such groups. To formalize this effort, we operate according to our Economic Inclusion Program.

Diversity at work
You can see HGC’s inclusion program at work in nine projects we’ve completed in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. We partnered with various subcontractors for these projects. Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), and Disadvantaged Business or Small Business Enterprise (DBE/SBE) subcontractors received nearly 70 percent of this work.

Why have a diversity director?
Part of HGC's mission is to have our workforse and subcontractors reflect the growing diversity of the community and marketplace. HGC's diversity director, Josie Gonzalez, is responsible for our Economic Inclusion Program and brings added focus to fulfilling this mission.

Bring Your Talent to The Table

HGC seeks the most competitive and qualified subcontractors/suppliers with the operational and financial capacity to perform successfully. They must provide quality products, work, and services; excellent customer service; competitive bids; and the ability to assist HGC in meeting project goals.

See steps 1-5 outlined below for information on becoming an HGC subcontractor or supplier. Call Henry Frondorf at 513.861.8866 to discuss details.

How do subcontractors/suppliers participate with HGC?
These are the steps:

1. Contact HGC.
Whether it’s through our efforts or those of a subcontractor, communication needs to be established.

In order to be included on our bidders list, subcontractors and suppliers must submit this completed form to exchange basic information.

3. Interview.
New MBE/WBE/SBE subcontractors meet with HGC Diversity Director, Josie Gonzalez to discuss their experience, set up a plan for a new working relationship, and discuss possible future bid opportunities and expectations. If you have questions specifically about our diversity and inclusion program, contact Josie Banuelos.

4. Bidding process.
Subcontractors may receive an invitation to bid on projects related to the scope of their work. HGC will provide assistance related to questions or concerns about the project.

5. Winning a bid.
After awarding a contract, HGC will continue to work with subcontractors throughout the project to assist with questions that may arise.
