July 30, 2007, Cincinnati, Ohio – HGC Construction recently started construction on the Graeter’s Ice Cream store at Fountain Square. The new 1,600 SF store will be located on the first floor in the southwest corner of the Fifth Third Bank Tower. Construction includes complete demolition of the existing space, new drywall, acoustical ceilings, millwork, ceramic tile flooring and new restrooms.
The project is scheduled for completion in September. In 2006, HGC completed the construction of the 3,000 SF Graeter’s Ice Cream store in Mason, Ohio.
The project architects are Tilsley & Associates Architects and Bruce D. Robinson Design Group.
In 2005, a $42.7 million transformation began at Fountain Square. HGC has been an integral part of this revitalization. Along with the Graeter’s Ice Cream store, HGC is also completing the new Via Vite Restaurant located in the northwest corner of the square atop the Vine Street entrance to the garage.
The 4,189 SF restaurant will feature great views of the square and the Tyler Davidson Fountain from both the glass-enclosed dining room on the first floor and the 1,200 SF outdoor terrace on the second floor. This unique eatery will feature an Italian menu including panini’s, pasta’s and pizza. The restaurant will be open to customers for lunch and dinner.
The exterior architect for the project is BHDP and the interior is Beck Architecture, Inc.
